In denial?

The Congress seems to be in an Alice in Wonderland-like state — or, a willing suspension of disbelief — at least as far as Andhra Pradesh is concerned. When asked how dismal the poll prospects for the party looked like in the upcoming bypolls, now that Jagan Mohan Reddy was massively gaining from the sympathy factor after his arrest, Congress spokesperson Renuka Chowdhury retorted, “We are not losing anything. In fact, the situation is how many seats the Congress is going to win and how many Jagan is going to lose.” This is despite every indication on the ground pointing to a complete rout for the Congress in the 18 Assembly seats and a ground swell for Jagan’s YSR Congress in the June 12 polls. For Chowdhury, who also hails from the state, it is certainly a case of delusion.
