Letters: Re-railing the US economy

This refers to the editorial “The world’s cliff” (December 24). It is ironical that the US produced two Nobel laureates in economics in 2012 but could not offer a solution to re-rail the economy. The US clearly cannot continue with its present economic policy that encourages “consumerism” and “protectionism”.
