Bangladesh High Commissioner meets Arunachal governor, CM

Karim accompanied by commercial counsellor Habibur Rahman met Singh last evening as part of their three-day goodwill mission to this frontier state, they said.

The High Commissioner discussed with the Governor various matters of mutual interest like promoting Indo-Bangla relations and issues concerning interests of North-East and Arunachal Pradesh.

Inland waterways, Brahmaputra river project and areas of prospective trade and commercial activities came in for discussion, while the Governor highlighted the tourism and hydropower potentials of the state, they said.

Karim, during a meeting with Tuki stressed the need to work together specially on strategies to synergise and harness natural resources for the benefit of people without disturbing the ecology.

The discussion also brought up the subject of hydro-power potential of Arunachal Pradesh, which the neighbouring country has expressed keen desire to benefit from.

According to Karim, his country has been in power deficit and needs extra power to meet its demands.
