Paswan along with 60 named and 200 unnamed persons was booked under section 147 (rioting), 149 (unlawful assembly), 332 (voluntarily causing hurt to deter public servant from his duty), 342 (wrongful confinement) of the IPC and other offences, police said.
The protesters last night clashed with police which resorted to cane charge to disperse the gathering.
According to police, few of their personnel were injured in the violence following which, Superintendent of Police Rajendra Singh ordered that a case be registered against the BJP MLA and others.
Meanwhile, Paswan alleged that the lathi charge by police led to serious injuries to five people including himself. He threatened to raise the issue in Uttar Pradesh Assembly.
