The Haryana government will provide toilet facilities to the registered labourers of the state at construction sites, it said today.
This would help the state achieve the open defecation-free status and the labourers would also be protected from various diseases, an official spokesman said here.
All the registered labourers of the state would be linked through their Aadhaar numbers, so that they could get timely benefits of all the government schemes, he added.
'Bhojanalayas', where food would be available at a subsidised rate, would be opened under the 'Antyodaya Anna Yojana' for the registered labourers working in the construction field from January 1, said the spokesman.
These 'bhojanalayas' would be set up in six districts -- Yamunanagar, Gurugram, Faridabad, Sonepat, Panipat and Hisar, he said, adding that the labourers would only have to pay Rs 10 per meal which would be of about 750 grams, whereas it would cost between Rs 60 and Rs 70 in the market.
