"MCDs and NDMC are directed to file a comprehensive status report within a week and then the court will appoint a committee to verify the veracity of it," a bench of justices S K Kaul and Vipin Sanghi said while asking the civic agencies to file a detailed status report.
The bench gave the order while hearing a plea by NGO Nyaya Bhoomi President B B Sharan to launch contempt proceedings against the civic body officials for their alleged failure in complying with the court's July 11 order.
The high court had on July 11 had directed officials to take steps to end the problem of water-logging in the capital in 15 days.
Appearing before the bench, the counsel for MCDs claimed that steps have been taken to tackle water-logging and the status report is ready to be filed before the court.
Similarly, the NDMC counsel too claimed that no complaint of water-logging has come to the agency during this monsoon and the areas falling under it are quite clean.
The court had earlier asked the civic bodies and others to ensure that "the desilted materials are removed from the sites". (More)
