HPU Executive Council decides to hold SCA polls on Aug 23

HPU Vice Chancellor A D N Bajpai convened an emergent meeting of the action committee of major student organisations ABVP, NSUI and SFI here today after they gave a call for "Education Bandh".

As per the programme finalised, the voters list would be displayed on August 17, objections would be disposed of on August 18, nominations, scrutiny and withdrawal of nominations would be done on August 21 and polling was scheduled for August 23.

The election would be conducted strictly as per the Lyngdoh Committee recommendations to ensure that there was no violence and classes were not disturbed.

The Council cautioned the students organisations and students to refrain from violence and in such an eventuality in the colleges or University campus the election would be cancelled immediately.

The Council also decided to form a state level monitoring committee with a one year tenure to supervise the activities of the student organisations and students during and after the elections.
