"We are going to introduce Digital Voting System for visually-challenged students for the first time," according to a statement by Dileep Maurya, chairperson of the JNU Election Committee.
This is for the first time that an alternative voting system is being introduced in the JNUSU elections. Around 80 students enrolled in several courses will benefit through digital voting.
"This is a very effective step. We appreciate this move by the Election Commission," said Mohib Anwar, a PhD student and representative of the Visually Challenged Students' Forum in JNU.
Previously, JNU had implemented 'Braille ballot' in the Gender Sensitisation Committee Against Sexual Harassment (GSCASH) in the previous academic session, Anwar said.
