Man-eating leopard shot dead in Almora

A man-eating leopard, which had killed two villagers in the past 15 days, was shot dead in the Chaukhutia area of Almora district.
A hunter, deployed by the forest department, shot dead the leopard after midnight on Friday.
Nandan Singh Mehra shot and killed the beast when it attacked him, sources in the forest department said.
Last fortnight the leopard had killed Bhupal Singh, of Mehalchaura Village and Tara Singh, of Chittaili.
The hunter was deployed at the request of the villagers.
