MP govt provides medical assistance to Tope's descendant

Financial assistance worth Rs 1.50 lakh has been ordered from the Chief Minister's Discretionary Fund to Gwalior resident Vasant Rao Tope, a descendant of Tatya Tope, for his cancer treatment, officials said today.
Ramchandra Pandurang, popularly known as Tatya Tope, played a crucial role in the 1857 uprising against the British rule.
He also fought against Britsh forces when the were engaged in a battle with Rani Laxmi Bai of Jhansi. However, he was defeated by them and later executed in Shivpuri town in Madhya Pradesh on April 18, 1859.
