"No, we cannot stop here and sit on our laurels. We have to work harder and will try to adopt the work culture of top 100 universities," Grover said here while commenting on the varsity's feat.
Grover, whose university has a long list of famous alumni including Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, nobel laureate Hargobind Khurana and former President Shankar Dayal Sharma, further said the varsity has been adjudged among top universities, "owing to overall excellence in different fields like social sciences, humanities, science, technology, health and life sciences."
"We need to improve research standards and money is granted only on the basis of research work," he said.
Panjab University was established in 1882 in Lahore and was relocated to its present campus in Chandigarh's Sector 14 and 25 in 1956.
The varsity has also established the 'Dr Manmohan Singh Chair' in its department of Economics.
