Oms Joins Hands With Siemens

The agreement entails a joint marketing and project engineering venture by the two in relation to chemical, oil and gas offsite automation systems between OMS and industrial projects and technical services group of Siemens AG.

Both the companies will market the OMS products and services jointly. They will cover all aspects of marketing from initial contact and preliminary discussion to the presentations and project proposals.

According to a spokesperson for OMS, "The venture between OMS and Siemens is basically with a dual purpose as while the software requirements of the 775-plus refineries in the world would be catered to by the software package developed by OMS, the heavy engineering machinery fabrication expertise of Siemens would be on hand to facilitate any problem areas with respect of individual refineries."

He pointed out that the respective refinery size varying from plant to plant the tie up would provide a professional perspective of software solutions as well as heavy engineering machinery for the refineries throughout the world.

Offsite operations deal with feed and product preparations, material movement, supply chain management, tanks farm management products and crude blending, each of which is a scientifically monitored process.

While many software companies offer consulting and services, OMS is one of the few companies to offer an integrated software for the automation of offsite operations in refineries.

The industrial projects and technical services group of Siemens is a global supplier to plants in the process and manufacturing industries of customised industry-oriented, technical services and IT solutions that cover the whole plant life cycle, from planning and construction, to operation and modernization, to dismantling and recycling.

In fiscal 1998-99, the volume of orders received by ATD increased by 11 per cent to euro 4.14 billion and the volume of sales increased by two per cent to euro 4.12 billion.
