Pondicherry Cong Gets New Chief

All-India Congress Committee (AICC) secretary V Narayansw-amy was on Friday appointed as the president of the Pondicherry Pradesh Congress Committee by party president Sonia Gandhi.
Making this announcement, AICC general secretary Ghulam Nabi Azad said new PCC presidents would soon be appointed in Tamil Nadu and Karnataka. According to Congress sources, a new PCC president is also likely to be simultaneously appointed for Andhra Pradesh.
With Assembly elections in Pondicherry and Tamil Nadu due in March-April next year, Narayanswamy and the new PCC president in Tamil Nadu would have a challenging assignment on hand.
The Congress has been able to dislodge the DMK from power in Pondicherry two months back and has formed an alternative government with the support of the TMC, the AIADMK and the CPI. A similar front is taking shape in Tamil Nadu as well is AIADMK supremo J Jayalalitha is the obvious leader.
