The country manager of SDRC operations in India, Narendar Reddy, said that the company, which at the moment has a distribution network in India to market its products, will set up the subsidiary by March next year. We will then continue our distribution network and provide more services like training and consultancy, Reddy said.

SDRC's Indian operations fetched business worth $3 million in 1995-96. It has increased its presence in the country by opening an office in Bangalore. It plans to open another office in Pune shortly. In six years, the company has cornered a 50 per cent market share in the $6-million mechanical computer-aided design (CAD) market in the country. Its client list includes companies like Mahindras, Telco, Escorts and Ashok Leyland.

SDRC has also embarked on a series of alliances with various companies to increase its penetration in the software market.
