Bearish conditions gathered momentum on the Delhi Stock Exchange (DSE) yesterday with heavy-weighted stocks declining to close lower due to pre-election nervous selling by FIIs amidst bear hammering. Stock brokers said, a pre-poll opinion published in a magazine indicating that no single party may get absolute majority mainly unnerved the sentiment.
Foreign funds pressed massive selling at multi-nationals and several high-priced Indian company stocks, they said. The DSE sensitive index closed 4.47 points down at 711.77 points.
RIL, after opening a shade higher at Rs 156.30 on speculative buying, reacted to nervous selling by bull operators and dipped to Rs 150.75, before winding up at Rs 151.80, still Rs 3.70 down over the previous close of Rs 155.50.
