Who doesn’t like to take a break at work? True, the Internet is a very big place which can help you escape the banality of the day to day routine. But that doesn’t mean you need be aimless while slacking. There are hundreds of websites out there which you can browse — without the boss raising eyebrows — to refresh yourself between meetings and deadlines. Here’s our pick of some wacky, entertaining, as well as informative sites. However, given that some of these sites are noisy, the use of headphones could be a good idea if you want to keep your job. And no, we aren’t including the social networking sites in the list as, after some point, they stop being fun.

www.Mindjolt.com
The site is a one-stop shop for games of all kinds. Be it strategy, action, sports, puzzles — you name it, Mindjolt has it. You don’t need to download anything from the site. Just register, log in and let the games begin. Each week, a dozen-odd games are added to the roster. As the name suggests, the site provides the right jolt to get you out of the “strictly work” routine.

www.Urbandictionary.com
Feeling lost among all the young junkies at work? Then Urbandictionary.com will tell you what’s “hinky” or “Upper Case Voice.” The site is full of words, phrases or contemporary lingo that youngsters use. Of course, some of them are quite pointless and won’t be used colloquially. Still, it’s a fun portal for learning new phrases and terms.

www.Flyyoufools.com
Interaction designer Saad Akhtar’s webcomic is a great diversion from work. The site updates the comic strips every week. In the creator’s own words: “It’s about life, and its irritations. There are no stories, no characters, no songs, no Saases and no Bahus.” Akhtar’s webcomic is hilarious and can give you quite a few laughs when fretting over some pending work.

www.Morphthing.com
As the name suggests, this site is all about morphing. Combine two images of celebrities and see the results. For instance, what would a combination of Barack Obama and Britney Spears’ faces look like? It’s a face that you won’t forget easily. You can also upload your own or friends’ pictures at Morphthing and trick your friends.

www.Tripadvisor.com
An excellent site if you need to do some research on your forthcoming holiday or weekend destination. The site lists almost every hotel and resort across the globe and the best part is, you can read honest, unbiased reviews from fellow travellers. You can always write on your reviews and travel experiences, upload pictures to help other travellers, if you wish. But the latter is only if you have too much time to kill.

www.simonpanrucker.com/beans.html
This site needs headphones, as the PC speakers might give you away. Just watch the tin of beans fill up and then click on it until it explodes. The beans don't like it of course, and one little guy starts screaming and screaming until you have to put him out of his misery by clicking on him. Then another little bean discovers his squished out mate and starts screaming his head off, too. No problem, click on him to mash up this one, too. Be careful, though, they get faster and faster.
