BSNL-Shyam Networks launches 3G data card Winknet in UP

Public sector Bharat Sanchal Nigam Limited (BSNL) and communications solutions provider Shyam Networks have launched 3G data card Winknet in Uttar Pradesh.

Shyam Group companies include Sistema Shyam Tele Services Limited (SSTL), a joint venture with Russian Sistema of Russia, which offers CDMA mobile phones and data services under the MTS brand.

While, the bundled offer has been launched in the Uttar Pradesh (East) circle, it would be launched across India in the first week of April, Shyam Networks senior vice president Nafis Kazim told the media here.

The 3G dongle is available for Rs 1,900 and it also supports 2G connection. It comes with download speed of 7.2 mbps and upload speed of 5.76 with 32 GB T-flash based on qualcomm chipset, he said.

Kazim said Winknet was positioned as a networking and connectivity product for mass market and there was growing demand for broadband.

“We have the widest coverage of 3G network in UP as well as India,” BSNL chief general manager A K Purwar said after the launch. The telecom behemoth has over 1,000 3G BTS covering all cities in the Circle.

Shyam Networks offers solutions for homeland security and industrial security. The company is planning to launch a pocket router for wi-fi, that could support 10 computer nodes and giving 4.4. mbps speed. The device is likely to be priced at Rs 4,500.
