LG to launch new notebook models

LG Electronics India Limited (LGEIL), a subsidiary of LG Electronics of South Korea, will be launching two new models of laptops in the country by this month-end. The R-200 and R-405 notebooks are priced at Rs 75,000 and Rs 49,990 respectively.
 
The R 200 notebook with a 12-inch monitor has got an auxiliary display on the top so that one can access e-mail, music, telephone numbers and other such features without booting into the system. This has been designed keeping in mind a frequent traveller.
 
The other notebook, R-405, has a 14-inch monitor with curl-fit design and Intel's latest santarosa platform, LGEIL's IT division group head, R Manikandan, told Business Standard.
 
According to Manikandan, LGEIL's IT division is venturing into retail business in a big way. The company will be increasing the number of exclusive LG Cyber Shoppe from the existing 56 to 100.
 
In Andhra Pradesh, it is planning to set up two shoppe in Hyderabad and one in Vijayawada. Similarly, in Karnataka two shoppe will be set up in Bangalore, while one will be established at Hubli.
 
He said that the IT division was targeting a revenue of Rs 1,100 crore during this calendar year, as against Rs 900 crore in 2006.
