RPG Group company and IT major Zensar is betting big on the business process outsourcing (BPO) business and plans to get into the hi-end of the business, a top group official said.

"We plan to get into the hi-end of the BPO business," RPG Group Chairman Harsh Goenka told PTI here.

There was an immense potential in the business and despite the global economic recession, the group was upbeat about its prospects.

"The BPO business has a huge growth potential and we want to grow in this segment," he said.

He, however, did not divulge any further details. Zensar presently runs its business through three platforms--global outsourcing (Americas, Europe, Middle-East and Africa), BPO and enterprise application services.

Going forward, the company would continue to give a strong focus to its retail, financial services, infrastructure and utilities verticals, Goenka said.

The IT major, has, in the recent past, made two significant acquisitions, one each in the SAP and Oracle space.

However, given the global economic meltdown, the company is now not actively scouting around for acquisitions. It had previously evinced interest in acquisitions in Germanic Europe "but now, following the global meltdown, we are not actively hunting for acquisitions", the RPG chief said.

"However, if a good opportunity presents itself, we will definitely look at it," he added.
