India's Yashasvi Jaiswal smashed the second century of his Test career, taking the English Bazball style for the ride. Jaiswal, who reached the milestone in 151 balls at the Dr Y S Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam (Vizag), was in a dominant form post Lunch on Day 1 of the second Test between the two sides.

Having reached his fifty just before Lunch in 89 balls, he showed brilliant form, hitting his next 39 runs in just 50 balls to enter the nervous nineties. However, once in the nineties, Jaiswal took his time getting to the three-figure and pushing India to a better position in the game.

Jaiswal middled 88 per cent of the balls that he played and was in control of 90 per cent of them while playing. It was only apt that he reached his hundred with a down-the-ground six over deep mid-wicket against Hartley.

Speaking after the end of the day's play, Jaiswal said, "I wanted to play it session by session. When they were bowling well, I just wanted to get through that spell. Initially, the wicket was damp and there was spin and bounce, with a bit of seam. However, I wanted to convert the loose balls, and play till the end."

Jaiswal continued hitting the English bowlers all over the park as he built crucial partnerships with fellow batters. After adding 40 for the first wicket with Rohit Sharma, the 22-year-old added 49 with Shubman Gill for the second wicket, 90 with Shreyas Iyer for the third wicket and 70 with debutant Rajat Patidar for the fourth wicket before finding Axar Patel as his next partner.

Jaiswal eyes double hundred

Jaiswal went on to better his best score in Test cricket as he brought up his second 150-plus score in the red-ball format with a four against Joe Root. He reached 150 in 225 balls. Jaiswal finished the day at an unbeaten 179 and would ete his first ever double hundred in Test on the second day of play. He has so far hit 17 fours and five sixes in the innings.

Talking about reaching the double figures, the Mumbaikar said, "I would love to double this up, and play till the end for the team. I want to recover well for tomorrow now. Rahul sir and Rohit bhai kept giving me the confidence and told me to convert this into a big innings, and stay till the end."
