Centre announces regularisation policy for unauthorised colonies of Delhi

The Centre on Tuesday announced a revised "as is where is" based regularisation policy to simplify the permission process for registration of properties and construction activities in unauthorised colonies of the national capital. The revised policy ends the requirement of a layout plan for registration of already constructed buildings in 1,511 out of the total 1,731 unauthorised colonies in Delhi. Also, the Revenue Department of the Delhi government will now issue conveyance deeds for ownership rights instead of the DDA. Delhi mandates LPG supply to businesses only if they have PNG connection

The Delhi government has tightened norms for the supply of commercial LPG cylinders, making it mandatory for businesses to either have or apply for a piped natural gas (PNG) connection in areas where the network is available, according to an official order. In an order issued by the Food, Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department on April 2, the government amended a key clause of its recently notified policy on distribution of commercial LPG cylinders. Delhi govt rolls out 'Lakhpati Bitiya Yojana' to support girls' education

The Delhi government has rolled out the 'Lakhpati Bitiya Yojana', aimed at supporting the education and long-term financial security of the girl child through phased financial assistance from birth till higher education. In a gazette notification issued on March 30, the Department of Women and Child Development detailed the 'Delhi Lakhpati Bitiya Scheme Rules', which came into force from Wednesday. Delhi Police arrests Mysuru man for sending over 1,100 hoax bomb threats

Delhi Police has arrested a man from Mysuru in Karnataka for allegedly sending more than 1,100 hoax bomb threats to schools, high courts and government offices across the country, officials said on Monday. The accused, identified as Srinivas Louis, 47, was apprehended from his rented accommodation on Saturday following a joint operation by Delhi Police and local police teams, the officials said. The arrest comes amid a recent spate of bomb threat messages being sent to the Delhi High Court, assembly and several educational and government institutions. Police said Louis is a postgraduate and a native of Bengaluru. He is currently unemployed and lives with his mother, a retired government employee. Traffic curbs in central Delhi for half marathon on Mar 29: Police advisory

The Delhi Traffic Police on Saturday issued an advisory ahead of a half-marathon on March 29, warning of traffic restrictions in central parts of the city. The event organised by Times Internet Limited will begin at 5 am from Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium and continue till 10 am, covering key stretches including C-Hexagon, Kartavya Path, Janpath, Ashoka Road and Mansingh Road before culminating at the stadium. SC issues contempt notice to ASI chief over heritage sites of Delhi

Taking strong exception to the deliberate violation of its order, the Supreme Court has issued a contempt notice to the Director General of Archaeological Survey of India for failure to submit a response on the conservation status of 173 notified heritage sites in the national capital. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert forecasting light rain, thunderstorms and gusty winds during the day in several areas. The IMD said areas such as southwest Delhi, parts of west Delhi, central Delhi, Shahdara, east Delhi, north Delhi, south Delhi and southeast Delhi are likely to witness rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning, and advised residents to remain updated. It also predicted wind speeds ranging between 30 and 40 kilometres per hour. According to IMD officials, the ongoing spell of unusual weather in March is linked to a series of western disturbances affecting northwest India. These disturbances have been influencing the region since March 15 and are approaching at a lower altitude than usual, impacting weather patterns over Delhi. British Airways to add extra Delhi, Mumbai flights amid West Asia crisis

2 killed, 23 injured after bus overturns in central Delhi; driver detained

Two passengers were killed and at least 23 others injured after a sleeper bus overturned near Delhi's Karol Bagh area in the early hours of Wednesday, an official of the Delhi Fire Services said. A call regarding the accident was received at 1.10 am, following which two fire service vehicles were rushed to the spot and rescue operations were initiated promptly, the official said. Delhi Police busts cross-border arms smuggling racket; 10 arrested

The Delhi Police on Wednesday said they have busted an arms smuggling module with links to Pakistan, Nepal and Bangladesh, and arrested 10 people. A cache of sophisticated foreign-made weapons, including sub-machine guns and automatic pistols, along with 200 live cartridges, has been recovered from the accused, they said. According to police, a total of 21 firearms were seized during the operation, comprising high-end automatic weapons and pistols sourced from multiple countries. Among the recovered weapons are a Czech Republic-made sub-machine gun and a range of pistols of different international makes. Delhi budget pushes semiconductor policy, AI hubs to boost industry
