Realty firm Gera Developments will invest about Rs 1,100 crore to develop a new housing project in Pune as part of its expansion plan. In an interview with PTI, Rohit Gera, Managing Director of Pune-based Gera Developments Pvt Ltd, said the company has entered into wellness-centric homes, starting with an 8-acre upcoming project in Pune. "We have roped in Bollywood actor Hrithik Roshan as brand ambassador for Gera's WellnessCentric Homes," he added. Elaborating on the first wellness-centric project, Rohit said the company will develop around 1,000 flats in the two phases of this 8-acre project. In the first phase, the company will launch around 500 units for sale, with a starting rate of around Rs 1.25 crore per unit. Asked about the project cost, Rohit said the investment would be around Rs 1,100 crore, including land. "The agri-tech landscape is evolving rapidly, from genetic modification and precision farming to data science and ICT-based advisory systems," Chand said, while addressing an Assocham event here. He said farmers today must have access to capital, knowledge, and partnerships that enable them to adapt to this transformation, according to a statement. External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Thursday said that terrorism remains a "persistent threat" to development and stressed that the world must show neither tolerance nor accommodation to terrorist activities. Addressing the G20 Foreign Ministers' meeting here, Jaishankar said those who act against terrorists on any front render a "larger service to the international community as a whole". Speaking on the correlation between international peace and global development, he said that in recent times, both deteriorated in parallel. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin on Tuesday laid the foundation stone for 14 new development projects worth Rs 17.65 crore and inaugurated several new buildings for the police department during his visit to Kolathur, his home constituency. Among the key inaugurations was the office of the Deputy Commissioner of Police in Kolathur and a new police station at the Kalaignar Centenary Bus Terminus in Kilambakkam, constructed for Rs 18.26 crore. Stalin also inaugurated additional school buildings at the Chennai Girls' Higher Secondary School in Perambur, built for Rs 9.74 crore. A police station in Peravallur, other police infrastructure, and an air-conditioned bus stand at Retteri were also inaugurated. India's progress across various Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) has been enabled by a dual strategy that encompasses strong safety nets and reforms that foster growth through a more enabling environment, Vice Chairman of NITI Aayog Suman Bery has said. Bery pointed out that 240 million Indians escaped from multi-dimensional poverty in the decade between 2013-14 and 2022-23, and social protection coverage has more than doubled since 2015. India is on track to achieve health targets for maternal, child and infant mortality before 2030, the target year of the SDGs, he said. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch development projects worth more than Rs 7,000 crore during his visit to Bihar on Friday, a senior party leader said. According to state BJP president Dilip Jaiswal, Modi will address a public meeting at Gandhi Maidan in Motihari town, the headquarters of East Champaran district. "That Bihar is high on the Prime Minister's agenda can be gauged from the fact that he will be visiting the state for the 53rd time since he assumed power. The state will be showered with development projects worth Rs 7,196 crore," Jaiswal said. He added that the projects are related to diverse sectors, including railways, national highways and roads, rural development, animal husbandry and dairy farming, and Information Technology. "The projects relating to railways are worth Rs 5,398 crore while national highways and roads would account for another Rs 1,173 crore. India needs an average nominal GDP growth rate of 10 per cent annually to achieve the government's vision of Viksit Bharat by 2047, CII President Rajiv Memani said. Nominal GDP is the total value of goods and services produced in a country, measured using current market prices, without adjusting for inflation, unlike real GDP. "India would require an average about 10 per cent nominal growth to achieve the Viksit Bharat vision," Memani told PTI. In an interview to PTI, the newly-appointed president of the industry lobby observed that the interim trade pact between India and the US, expected to be finalised shortly, will remove the cloud of "uncertainty", providing access to a bigger market for Indian firms, especially in labour-intensive sectors.
