Donald Trump expressed his gratitude for naming a road in Hyderabad, India, after him, saying he was the first US President to be honoured this way. Trump's remarks on Truth Social on Friday came after the Telangana government named a road adjoining the US Consulate in the southern Indian city as "Donald Trump Avenue". "The new Donald Trump Avenue in Hyderabad, India -- The first US President to ever be honoured in this way. Thank you," Trump said, sharing a photograph of Telangana deputy chief minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka and US envoy to India Sergio Gor unveiling the ceremonial plaque earlier this week. The newly named Donald Trump Avenue is also close to the offices of major American tech firms, including Microsoft, Google and Amazon. The Telangana government described the designation as a tribute to the United States and a recognition of Hyderabad's growing role in US-India relations.
Southwest Airlines on Wednesday announced the opening of its Hyderabad Office, which will serve as the airline's GIC and marks a significant step in expanding its global business and technology capabilities. The Global Innovation Centre (GIC) is supported by its employees based here through a wholly owned subsidiary, Southwest Airlines India Private Limited, a press release from the carrier said. The Centre was inaugurated by Duddilla Sridhar Babu, Minister for IT and Industries, along with Laura Williams, US Consulate General, Hyderabad and Sai Krishna, IT Advisor, Telangana. The GIC will plug seamlessly into Southwest's global network, bringing together business functions, engineering, analytics, and technology expertise to advance the airline's ability to deliver reliable, secure, and efficient operations. A Fly91 flight from Hyderabad to Hubballi was diverted to Bengaluru due to adverse weather conditions, with airport officials maintaining that all passengers were safe. The incident caused panic among the passengers as the aircraft remained airborne for three hours on Sunday. Some of the scared passengers were in tears and started praying for their safety. The flight, which departed Hyderabad at around 3.30 pm, was scheduled to land in Hubballi at about 4.30 pm but was unable to do so due to unfavourable weather, sources said. "Due to bad weather, the flight from Hyderabad to Hubballi was diverted to Bengaluru," an airport official said, adding that such diversions are a standard safety measure. According to the official, the aircraft hovered over Hubballi for about an hour in anticipation of improvement in weather conditions before being diverted. "This is general practice. Aircraft circle in the air for some time waiting for the weather to improve. It is the pilot's decision,"

As many as 13 flights from Middle East countries to Hyderabad were cancelled on Tuesday following the ongoing conflict there, airport sources said. The sources further said 12 flights scheduled for leave to various countries in the Middle East were also cancelled. "Thirteen flights from the Middle East to Hyderabad were cancelled today. Similarly, 12 flights that should have left for the Middle East were also cancelled," sources told PTI. Social media is flooded with confused travellers seeking updates on the status of their flights. "I have a flight from Hyderabad to Kuwait and Kuwait to New York. Booking reference: AI6CP4. Can you please confirm if the flights will be running-on 13th March. In the app it's still showing confirmed," Rohit Chalumuri, a travellor posted on 'X'. Over 360 flights at Hyderabad Airport have been cancelled from February 28 till March 10, sources added.
