India's global capability centre (GCC) workforce, which will reach 3 million by 2030, is likely to create four lakh jobs for freshers by 2030 and is expected to witness a 3-5 per cent improvement in gender diversity, HR investment platform FirstMeridian said. The GCC ecosystem in the country is growing rapidly, driven by a diverse talent pool, high digital literacy, cost advantages, and the involvement of many industries including IT, AI/ML, and data engineering, FirstMeridian Business Services CEO - IT Staffing, Sunil Nehra, said in a statement. He said as India becomes the preferred destination for GCCs, the market is expected to be worth USD 110 billion by 2030. Union Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Monday launched a dedicated mobile application for the Prime Minister Internship Scheme and urged more companies to join the programme. Also, the minister said she has appealed to MPs to encourage youth to join the scheme. The pilot project of the scheme targeted at providing 1.25 lakh internship opportunities to the youth during 2024-25 was launched on October 3, 2024. After launching the app in the national capital on Monday, Sitharaman, who is in charge of the Finance and Corporate Affairs ministries, said the scheme is aimed at getting youth from Tier II and III cities and help them to understand the skills that are required by the industry as well as the job availability. Indian employers continued to report strong hiring intentions globally in the second quarter of this calendar year, with a Net Employment Outlook (NEO) of 43 per cent, a survey said on Tuesday. India continues to lead the global Net Employment Outlook (43 per cent), exceeding the global average by 18 points for the second quarter of 2025, according to the latest ManpowerGroup Employment Outlook Survey. The ManpowerGroup Employment Outlook Survey is based on inputs from 40,413 employers across 42 countries, including 3,000 head hunters across different regions of India from January 2-31, 2025. The survey revealed that 55 per cent of employers intended to hire, 12 per cent foresee a decrease, 29 per cent do not expect any change in their workforce, and 4 per cent are unsure. Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Monday attacked the BJP over levying GST on examination forms, saying the government had turned the dreams of parents who saved every penny to prepare their children for exams into a source of income. The Congress general secretary shared an examination form of the Kalyan Singh Super Speciality Cancer Institute, Sultanpur, that showed 18 per cent GST was being charged.
