Madhya Pradesh Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya on Sunday said the high court ordered the incineration of the 337 tonnes of waste from the Union Carbide factory at a unit in Pithampur after carefully observing the process. Earlier this month, protests rocked Pithampur, around 50 km from Dhar district headquarters, after the waste from Bhopal-based Union Carbide reached a private facility for incineration. Since the protest, the local administration has been carrying out an intense awareness campaign to allay the said misconceptions about waste disposal. Talking to reporters after participating in a Republic Day function in Dhar, Minister Vijayvargiya expressed satisfaction with the public awareness campaign in the district. He cited an awareness video that answered all questions raised in a previous meeting. "The work of waste disposal is being done scientifically. I think the high court has observed the entire incineration process, and only after that directives have been issued. ..
Madhya Pradesh Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya said the fire at the renowned Mahakal Temple in Ujjain on Monday morning may have been caused by chemicals in 'gulal', a coloured powder used in rituals and during Holi. The blaze, which took place in the 'garbha griha' (sanctum sanctorum) of the temple at 5:50am, left 14 priests and 'sevaks' (assistants) injured, eight of whom were shifted to the Sri Aurobindo Institute of Medical Sciences in Indore. "It seems all the injured at SAIMS are out of danger, But they will be under observation for the next 24 hours," Vijayvargiya told reporters after visiting the health facility. "Every year, Holi is celebrated in Mahakaleshwar Temple by throwing gulal. Maybe, some chemical in the gulal caused the fire. However, we are not going to stop the tradition of playing Holi with Lord Bholenath in Mahakaleshwar Temple," he said. It will be ensured that no chemical laced gulal is used next time, he added. The magistrate there has ordered an inquiry ..
Batting for the 'one nation, one election' proposal, BJP general secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya on Tuesday asked if festivals like Diwali can be celebrated at the same time across the country, why can not there be simultaneous polls. He was replying to the question whether it was practically possible to hold simultaneous elections in view of different weather conditions in different parts of the country. "We celebrate Diwali together across the country. The festivals of Christmas and Eid are also celebrated together all over the country....so why can not we celebrate the election-day together, he said. The BJP leader termed the Congress's 'Jan Akrosh Yatra' outreach campaign as an "apology yatra" ahead of the assembly polls in Madhya Pradesh that are due in November. The previous Congress government led by Kamal Nath did not fulfil the promises made to farmers, milk producers, the unemployed youth and teachers, he claimed. Calling the bill reserving a quota for women in the Lok
The Aam Aadmi Party will face a repeat of its Gujarat electoral performance in Madhya Pradesh, where assembly elections are due by the year-end, BJP national general secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya has claimed. The Arvind Kejriwal-led AAP, which now governs Delhi and Punjab, has declared that it would contest in all 230 constituencies across MP. In the run-up to the Gujarat assembly elections last year, the AAP ran a high-decibel campaign but could win only five seats in the 182-member House. The BJP won a record 156 seats. Kejriwal had made big promises (to voters) in Gujarat as well, but I think his party lost deposits on 90 per cent of the seats there. (For AAP) there will be a repetition of their Gujarat poll situation in Madhya Pradesh, Vijayvargiya told reporters late on Monday night. The BJP leader also hit out at Congress Rajya Sabha member Digvijaya Singh, who recently alleged that a conspiracy was being hatched to create communal riots in MP like Haryana's Nuh. Vijayvargi
The credit for Indore getting top rank for the sixth time in a row in the Centre's 'Swachh Survekshan' awards must go to 'safai mitras' (cleanliness and conservancy workers) and citizens instead of officials, senior Madhya Pradesh Bharatiya Janata Party leader Kailash Vijayvargiya said. Indore was followed by Surat in Gujarat and Navi Mumbai in Maharashtra in the cleanest city category of the 2022 edition of the awards. "Nobody has the courage to say so except me. Sometimes one must speak bitterly too. As per me, the credit for the win goes to safai mitras and secondly the citizens. They are very cultured and disciplined due to their ancestors," the BJP national general secretary said at a function to felicitate civic workers on Thursday. Asserting that one need not "massage (the ego of)" officials, Vijayvargiya asked if the collector of Indore managed to get Ujjain top rank in the cleanliness category when he was posted there. "Indore is first because of its citizens and not becau
