Tamil Nadu Chief Minister V Joseph Vijay on Thursday witnessed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Tamil Nadu government and Larsen & Toubro Limited (L & T) for three major projects in the state involving a total investment of Rs 18,600 crore and the creation of employment opportunities for around 8,200 people.According to a press release, the Chief Minister held discussions at the Secretariat with L & T Chairman and Managing Director SN Subrahmanyan and appreciated the company's continued investments in Tamil Nadu and its contribution to the state's industrial growth.The Chief Minister welcomed L & T's proposal to establish projects across the data centre, electronics manufacturing and shipbuilding sectors, stating that the investments would further strengthen Tamil Nadu's position as a leading industrial destination. Larsen & Toubro (L&T) on Thursday said it has bagged a contract from Oberoi Realty for the construction of seven high-rise residential towers in Gurugram. The project has been bagged by the buildings and factories business vertical of L&T, the company said in a filing to BSE. The vertical has also bagged many other orders in the domestic market, including for construction of proving ground (testing place) from an international company in Haryana. The facility will boost testing infrastructure for vehicles embedded with latest technology. Besides the proving ground, the scope includes finishing works and external development relevant to the facility. The deal size of the orders was not disclosed by the company. Infrastructure major Larsen & Toubro (L&T) on Wednesday said that its heavy engineering arm has dispatched another steam generator to the Nuclear Power Corporation of India Ltd (NPCIL) in an effort to fast-track the country's energy security goal. The steam generators are used in pressurised heavy water reactors to convert water into steam, driving turbines for electricity generation. These generators are fabricated at L&T's facilities at the AM Naik Heavy Engineering Complex at Hazira and Vadodara in Gujarat. "The heavy engineering arm of L&T has dispatched the seventh 700 MWe steam generator for the Nuclear Power Corporation of India Ltd (NPCIL)," L&T said in a statement. Infrastructure major Larsen & Toubro (L&T) plans to commission 18 MW of data centre capacity by March-end, taking its total operational capacity to 32 MW by the end of the current fiscal. The total capital expenditure for the data centre stands at around Rs 1,000 crore. In the semiconductor business, L&T is focusing on design-led chips and engaging with multiple customers, with most spending being expensed through the profit and loss account, the company said during Q3 earnings conference call. As far as the electrolyser business is concerned, the company has developed a fully indigenous 4 MW stack and is upgrading it to 8-10 MW, expecting significant orders in the near term. "As of now, we have almost 32 MW of capacity of Data Center, out of which 14 megawatts is up and running, another 18 megawatts will get commissioned by the end of this fiscal year," a company official said during the conference call.
