Ola Electric has kicked off a plan to raise up to Rs 2,000 crore by selling a stake in its battery arm, Ola Cell Technologies (OCT), according to the sources. OCT owns the Tamil Nadu-based lithium-ion cell manufacturing plant with 1.5 GWh of operational capacity and plans to scale to 6 GWh by the end of this financial year. Investment bank Avendus and Motilal Oswal are mandated to run the fundraising process, sources said. The development comes amid Ola Electric's efforts to restructure operations and shore up its balance sheet as it works towards its business turnaround. The stake dilution plans will also determine the market valuation of a crucial battery infrastructure asset that has not yet been ascertained, sources said, adding that the asset's unique nature has attracted inbound interest from financial investors, including some leading sovereign wealth funds. On the auspicious occasion of Holika Dahan, which celebrates the start of a new season, the company announced that its Roadster range now starts at just Rs 79,999. This brings electric motorcycles directly at par with popular entry segment ICE motorcycles, the company said in a statement. Ola Electric on Friday said it has secured the Bureau of Indian Standards certification and licence for Ola Shakti in a 6kW/9.1 kWh battery pack powered by 4680 Bharat Cell. Ola Shakti is the country's first residential BESS (Battery Energy Storage System) solution, which is designed, engineered, and manufactured in India. As part of this certification, Shakti underwent a comprehensive set of electrical and mechanical safety-critical tests, including short-circuit and overload protection, safeguards against fire and thermal hazards and protection from electric shock, the Bengaluru-based company said in a statement. Ola Electric on Wednesday announced the expansion of its 4680 Bharat Cell platform. As part of the initiative, businesses and startups can now directly purchase the 4680 Bharat Cells, or the 1.5kWh 4680 Bharat Cell battery pack for application across automotive, humanoids, drones, and portable medical equipment. With this announcement, the company will enable startups and businesses to innovate and scale rapidly with new energy storage solutions designed, engineered, and manufactured in India, the Bengaluru-based firm said in a statement. Ola Electric on Sunday said it has scaled up deliveries of its 4680 Bharat Cell powered S1 Pro+ (5.2 kWh) across Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Telangana, and Karnataka. The company has commenced deliveries across Coimbatore, Kochi, and Hyderabad, along with continued ramp-up in Bengaluru, Ola Electric said in a statement. Ola Electric on Sunday said it has commenced same-day registration and delivery of its 4680 Bharat Cell powered vehicles in Bangalore. This offering is a part of the company's umbrella Hyperservice initiative to deliver a transparent, convenient, and customer-first service experience, the Bengaluru-based firm said in a statement. Under Hyperdelivery initiative , customers can now complete their purchase online or at an Ola Electric Store and ride home on their fully registered vehicles on the same day, it added.
