Delhi CM orders installation of citywide compactors for waste disposal

Delhi government will install compactors and machines for disposal of solid waste across the city, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said on Tuesday. After chairing a meeting at the Delhi Secretariat, Gupta said several decisions, including the installation of compacters, were taken. According to an official statement, she said the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) and the Delhi Urban Shelter Improvement Board (DUSIB) will provide land for the installation of high-capacity compactors in different parts of the city. Modern machines will be installed to process this waste initially across all Assembly constituencies and later expanded to individual wards, the chief minister added. Officials have also been instructed to conduct field visits at least once a day to monitor proper implementation of steps to ensure cleanliness in the city, the statement said. Govt constructing 10,000 km greenfield expressways worth ₹6 trn: Gadkari

The government is constructing 25 greenfield expressways, totalling 10,000 km across the country, at a cost of Rs 6 lakh crore, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari said on Thursday. Addressing the 120th Annual Session of PHDCCI, Gadkari further said 75-80 per cent of the work on the strategic Zojila Tunnel, which will provide all-weather connectivity between the Ladakh region and the rest of the country, has been completed. He said the highways ministry will get Rs 15 lakh crore if it monetises its road projects. The road transport and highways minister also said that the construction of expressways and economic corridors has helped reduce the country's logistics costs by 10 per cent from 16 per cent earlier. Around 489 road projects delayed due to land and clearance issues: Gadkari

As many as 489 road projects, which were originally scheduled for completion by March 2025, are pending due to delays in land acquisition, forest/wildlife clearances and railway approvals, Parliament was informed on Wednesday. Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari, in a written reply to the Rajya Sabha, said the government is making all efforts to resolve the pending issues in close coordination with state governments and other stakeholders to complete these projects. Union Cabinet clears Rs 1,878 cr Zirakpur Bypass project in Punjab, Haryana

The Union Cabinet on Wednesday approved a 19.2-km Zirakpur Bypass road project in Punjab and Haryana to be built at a cost of Rs 1,878.31 crore. The six-lane Zirakpur Bypass will start from Junction with NH-7 (Zirakpur-Patiala) and end at Junction with NH-5 (Zirakpur-Parwanoo) with a total length 19.2 km in Punjab and Haryana. The total capital cost of the project is Rs 1,878.31 crore, an official release said. "The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has approved construction of 6 lane access-controlled Zirakpur Bypass with length of 19.2 km worth Rs 1,878.31 crore in Punjab and Haryana on Hybrid Annuity Mode," it said. Bihar govt approves rural road projects worth over Rs 17,000 crore

Rural road construction in Bihar is all set to receive a major boost with projects worth more than Rs 17,000 crore getting the cabinet nod, a top official said. Briefing reporters after a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Additional Chief Secretary, Cabinet Secretariat Department, S Siddharth, on Thursday said approval was given for 37 projects of the rural works division, covering as many districts of the state. "These projects include construction and maintenance of 11,251 roads, the total length of which would be 19,876 km. An expenditure of Rs 17,266 crore was approved for the purpose," said Siddharth. A district-wise break-up showed that the maximum number of 706 roads, with a total length of 1,237 km, are to be built in Madhubani, at a cost of Rs 1,221 crore. Rs 2,395.51 cr sanctioned for road, bridge projects in Manipur: PWD

The Manipur Public Works Department said that Rs 2,395.51 crore was sanctioned for different road and bridge projects in the hill areas of the state from 2020-21 to 2024-25. In a press statement the Chief Engineer Manipur Public Works Department on Wednesday said the money was sanctioned during the period under various schemes. It said Rs 537.61 crore was sanctioned for 12 road and bridge projects in hill areas of the state in 2020-21. In 2021-22 a sum of Rs 244.72 crore was sanctioned for 27 projects, in 2022-23 a sum of Rs 708.27 was sanctioned for 130 road and bridge projects in the hill areas of Manipur, it said. The statement said 153 road and bridge projects worth Rs 673.88 crore was sanctioned in 2023-24 and 31 projects worth Rs 231.07 was sanctioned in 2024-25 for hill areas of the state. PWD, SJVNL sign MoU worth Rs 70 cr for road widening projects in Himachal

A memorandum of understanding (MoU) worth around Rs 70 crore has been signed between the state Public Works Department (PWD) and SJVN Ltd for the widening of various road projects in Himachal Pradesh on Monday. Presiding over the MoU signing ceremony here, PWD Minister Vikramaditya Singh said that the MoU had been signed for the widening of Sunni-Luhri road, Gharat Nala-Khaira road, Shimla-Mandi road and Dhali-Devidhar road. HMPL board approves Rs 486 cr fundraising plan through issuance of warrants

Infrastructure company Hazoor Multi Projects Ltd (HMPL) on Saturday said its board has approved a proposal to raise Rs 486 crore through the issuance of warrants. The plan was approved by the board of the company at a meeting on Friday, HMPL said in a regulatory filing. The board has approved fundraising of Rs 4,860 million through issuing and allotting up to 1.62 crore fully convertible warrants to the persons belonging to the 'non-promoter' and 'public' category on a preferential basis at an issue price of Rs 300 per warrant, the company said. The proposal is subject to the approval of shareholders and other regulatory authorities, HMPL added. "Upon issue of Warrants in accordance herewith, an amount equivalent to 25 per cent of the total issue size shall be called upfront from the proposed allottees," it noted. Centre gives green signal to road project in Andhra Pradesh tiger corridor

The National Board for Wildlife (NBWL) has recommended the use of more than 40 hectares of forest land from the tiger corridor connecting the Nagarjunasagar Srisailam Tiger Reserve (NSTR) and the Sri Venkateswara National Park in Andhra Pradesh for the development of expressways, economic corridors and inter-corridors under the second phase of Bharatmala Pariyojana, according to the minutes of a meeting held last month. Spread over 3,296.31 square kilometres, the NSTR is the country's largest tiger reserve. It is contiguous with Telangana's Amrabad tiger reserve and accounts for the largest tiger population (around 72) in the Eastern Ghat landscape.
