Digital infrastructure provider CloudExtel on Thursday said it has raised Rs 200 crore in debt from a leading private sector bank to accelerate the development of AI-ready digital infrastructure and expand its metro fibre network across India. The Mumbai-headquartered company did not disclose the name of the lender. The capital infusion is complemented by a proportional follow-on equity investment from CloudExtel's existing shareholders to support its expansion plans, according to a company statement. The debt will be used to fund CloudExtel's upcoming Data Centre Interconnect (DCI) network initiative, aimed at providing high-capacity, low-latency, and redundant connectivity between data centrescritical infrastructure for AI workloads, cloud computing, and digital content delivery. Dell Technologies on Wednesday announced the appointment of Anurag Arora as senior director and general manager, consumer sales for India market. Arora will drive business growth, sales and strategy for the consumer segment across the India market, the company said in a release. Technology-led smart agriculture holds the key to building a Viksit Bharat, Niti Aayog member Ramesh Chand said on Tuesday. "The agri-tech landscape is evolving rapidly, from genetic modification and precision farming to data science and ICT-based advisory systems," Chand said, while addressing an Assocham event here. He said farmers today must have access to capital, knowledge, and partnerships that enable them to adapt to this transformation, according to a statement. IT company Black Box expects 15 per cent year-on-year growth for the next four years as it eyes to cross the USD 2 billion revenue mark by fiscal year 2029, a senior company official said. Black Box President and CEO Sanjeev Verma told PTI that the company expects that its planned acquisition may add up to USD 750 million in incremental revenues. "With a quarterly order book averaging USD 500 million, the company anticipates closing the fiscal year with a backlog 30-40 per cent higher than last year, providing strong forward visibility," Verma said. The company had posted revenue of Rs 1,387 crore, about USD 160 million, in the first quarter ended June 30, 2025. "For FY'26, we are guiding revenues in the range of Rs 6,750-7,000 crore. This outlook reflects the momentum in our core business and the steps we are taking to build a stronger foundation for sustained growth," Verma said. The Centre has proposed setting up an online Assistive Technology Portal for certification, procurement, tracking, distribution, and grievance monitoring as part of the draft rules to regulate standards and accessibility of assistive devices for persons with disabilities. The draft Assistive Technology (Standards and Accessibility) Rules, 2025 lay down a comprehensive framework covering classification, certification, procurement, affordability, user safety, and integration of assistive technology into existing health and social welfare schemes. The rules classify assistive technology into three categories of essential (such as wheelchairs, spectacles, hearing aids), specialised (such as screen readers, prosthetics, cochlear implants), and emerging (such as AI-enabled devices, robotics, brain-computer interface systems). All assistive products will need to conform to standards prescribed by the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) or another notified authority before being made available
With artificial intelligence increasingly permeating daily life, global standard-setting bodies are deliberating on frameworks for its ethical use, Consumer Affairs Secretary Nidhi Khare said on Wednesday. "Indian experts are in the international standards-setting committees. Once the global standards are framed, they will be adopted by the countries, including India," Khare told PTI on the sidelines of a PHDCCI conference on harnessing AI to combat fraud and counterfeits in the retail and e-commerce sector. She said that 39 global AI standards already exist, while 45 more are in the process of being developed. At the ongoing International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) meeting, discussions are focused on preparing standards for responsible, inclusive and ethical use of AI, she said, addressing the event. Workplaces need to update their strategies by integrating technology-driven, experiential learning and upskilling opportunities, as a significant percentage of India's tech talent believes that such experiences are in higher demand than theoretical knowledge, says a survey. According to a survey released on Monday by New York-headquartered Vertex Group, workplaces are transforming, and those who are ready to learn and upskill will lead the industry going forward. The survey, titled "The Relevance of Academic Qualifications in a Changing Indian Job Market," highlighted the value of hands-on, practical learning, with the majority of respondents strongly agreeing that such experiences are in higher demand than theoretical knowledge in their professions.
