As chatter around AI intensifies ahead of the mega summit that New Delhi is set to host, here is a straightforward guide to some frequently used terms making headlines, and what they mean. From LLMs to guardrails, decoding AI vocabulary: ----------------------------------------------------- -- AI: First things, first. Artificial Intelligence, or AI, refers to the simulation of human intelligence by machines. Think of it as systems designed to perform tasks that typically require human intelligence - understanding language, recognising images, making decisions, solving problems, and increasingly, creating content such as text, music or videos. India must pursue 'sovereign by design' AI approach to benefit all: BCGX

AI in India will drive productivity, quality, and role redesign in the near term rather than mass unemployment, but the country must pursue a "sovereign by design" approach, maintaining control over its data and capabilities while staying globally integrated to ensure AI benefits everyone, according to BCGX. Indian deep-tech firm launches platform to fix missing loop in modern tech

An Indian deep-tech company has announced a technology platform that it says addresses a critical gap present across most modern systems, from industrial machines and infrastructure to robotics and human diagnostics. NeuroPause Lab Pvt Ltd said that while global technology has advanced rapidly in speed, automation, and intelligence, one essential element has been largely ignored -- a structured and verifiable pause between sensing a situation and acting on it. This missing step is where many failures, accidents, and system breakdowns originate, the firm argued. "Most systems today are designed to sense and respond instantly. But when actions are taken without checking balance, timing, and readiness, small instabilities grow into major failures," the company said in a release. NeuroPause Lab's work focuses on inserting this missing control loop into technology in a measurable and engineering-driven way. At the core of the platform is the Universal Balance Engine (UBE), which ...

This will be the first time an AI summit will be hosted in the Global South, following similar Global AI Summits in Bletchley Park (UK), Seoul and Paris. This is not symbolic. It's substantive, Prasada said Tuesday in his remarks at a special curtain-raiser event organised in the UN Headquarters by the Permanent Missions of India and France to the United Nations. He said that emerging and developing economies will account for the majority of future AI users, data generation and real-world deployment scenarios. Their needs, constraints and innovations must therefore shape the ..
