British Bio to invest more in global footprint

BS Reporter Chennai/ Bangalore
British Biologicals, a Bangalore-based nutraceuticals company, has opened its global centre in the city.

Speaking after opening the centre, British Biologicals Managing Director V S Reddy said, "The centre is built at a cost of $4 million and is an initiative to synergise the company's present and future operations under one roof."

"This is in line with the company's new strategy to pursue substantial organic and inorganic growth. The key strategy is to go in for acquisitions, tie-ups and brand buying in abroad," he added.

British Biologicals had recently entered into a tie-up with Finland's Raisio Group to manufacture and market 'Colred Benecol', a nutritional supplement which helps in reducing cholesterol.

British Biologicals started its operations in 1988 with medical nutritional supplements and now is in the OTC nutritional supplements market.

According to V Sridhar, executive director, British Biologicals, "With the share of global revenue increasing, the company intends to invest more in operations abroad. At present, our overseas revenues account for about 15 per cent of the annual sales of Rs 120 crore. The company is expecting a substantial jump in its revenues with increased overseas activity."

He further said, "A tie-up in Russia will soon go live. Presently we are in talks with a few companies. This is expected to add to the company's revenues next financial year."
