State-owned power company NTPC is looking to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's proposed visit to the US to realise its plan for the country's first geothermal power project.
"We may need to send a team to the US to identify agencies for collaboration. But this will be taken at the government level after the prime minister's visit. At present the project is at an exploratory stage and the detailed project report is being prepared," Chairman and Managing Director Arup Roy Choudhury said on Friday.
NTPC had signed a memorandum of understanding with the Chhattisgarh Renewable Energy Development Agency to set up the project at Tattapani, Himachal Pradesh.
