Mayewaka Manufacturing Company of Japan, a maker of compressors, is keen on working with the Andhra Pradesh (AP) government in establishing cold chains in the proposed mega food parks in the state.
Company’s chairman, Yoshiro Tanaka, told AP chief minister, N Chandrababu Naidu, who is currently on a visit to Japan, that Mayewaka could provide refrigeration compressors used in cold chains and hospitals.
“Together, we can prepare an action plan for this. Since Andhra Pradesh has a strong agriculture base, our collaboration in cold chains will prove fruitful,” the chief minister was stated to have said in response.

According to an official press release, the chief minister also sought the help of Japanese International Cooperation Agency (Jica) in developing industrial nodes and road network, connecting all ports in the state. He had requested Jica to set up an office in AP.
Jica’s senior vice president, Hidaeki Domichi, was stated to have told Naidu that since AP was developing ports, it would be an attractive investment destination for Japanese businesses.
Naidu also met Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC) governor and chief executive officer, Hiroshi Watanabe, and sought his ideas to work with Japan External Trade Organisation and other private corporations.
Watanabe told the chief minister that JBIC could help the state in inter-city connectivity and water treatment in urban areas besides funding Japanese companies interested in these projects. He also added JBIC could do joint operations with Indian banks and was in “talks with SBI and ICICI” in this regard.
The fourth day of the chief minister’s Japan visit started off with meeting Masanori Katayama, executive vice president and director of Isuzu Motors, which is setting up a pick-up tucks manufacturing unit in AP. Katayama was hopeful that by coming to AP, the company would have a good access to Indian market.
