Data story: India logs 14,506 new cases; over 100,000 infections in 7 days

India reported an increase of 2,902 in active coronavirus cases to take its count to 99,602. The country is twenty-fourth among the most affected countries globally by active cases. On June 29, it added 14,506 cases to take its total caseload to 43,433,345. And, with 30 new fatalities, its Covid-19 death toll reached 525,077, or 1.21 per cent of total confirmed infections.

With 1,344,788 more Covid-19 vaccine doses being administered on June 28, India’s total count of vaccine shots so far reached 1,974,657,138. The count of recovered coronavirus cases across India, meanwhile, reached 42,808,666 — or 98.56 per cent of the total caseload — with 11,574 new cured cases being reported on June 29.
