Data story: India logs 7,946 new Covid cases; 37 deaths in 24 hrs

India on September 1 reported a decrease of 1,919 in active coronavirus cases to take its count to 62,748. The country is thirty-third among the most affected countries globally by active cases. On September 1, it added 7,946 cases to take its total caseload to 44,436,339. And, with 37 new fatalities, including 12 more reconciled by Kerala, its Covid-19 death toll reached 527,911, or 1.19 per cent of total confirmed infections.
 

With 1,290,443 more Covid-19 vaccine doses being administered on August 31, India’s total count of vaccine shots so far reached 2,125,283,259. The count of recovered coronavirus cases across India, meanwhile, reached 43,845,680 — or 98.67 per cent of the total caseload — with 9,828 new cured cases being reported on September 1.
