Industry seeks unambiguity on employers' onus in Covid-positive cases

Not satisfied with govt clarification, fear section 58 of Disaster Management Act could be used against owners by various states

Industry bodies on Thursday sought a clear-cut announcement that employers would not be taken to task for Covid positive cases, despite the fact that the home ministry has already issued a clarification in this regard.

"We have seen the clarification from the home ministry yesterday. A notification or announcement that employers will not be held responsible for Covid positive cases will add confidence," the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) said during its interaction with the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) and the home ministry.
