Adaptation of Irrigated Agriculture to Climate Change, a multi-disciplinary Indo-French research project in the fields of agronomy, hydrology and economics, started at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc).
“The project aims at developing an integrated model for analysing the impact of climate change on groundwater irrigated agriculture of Southern India,” Laurent Ruiz, a Research Engineer at the French National Institute for Agricultural Research, told reporters here.
The project will explore adaptation strategies based on innovative cropping systems and water resource management policies, by considering a range of scenarios for agricultural systems and policies, he said.
