MIA proposed to prepare an election manifesto on industries' expectations from political parties contesting in the May 5 Karnataka State Assembly elections
The Centre has given an in-principle approval for the proposed general engineering cluster in Mysore. It will provide a financial assistance of Rs 15 crore.
The approval was given at a meeting on March 20 chaired by Secretary, Ministry of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises (MSME) in Delhi, according to Mysore Industries Association (MIA) general secretary Suresh Kumar Jain.

The MIA had signed an MoU in the global investors' meet held in Mysore recentely for setting up the cluster. The proposal was later submitted to the Karnataka Council for Technology Upgradation, which had forwarded to the MSME Ministry. The clearance has come now, he said.
MIA has now proposed to submit a list of cluster members with their capabilities, he said calling on interested engineering industries to register with MIA before April 10 to be part of the cluster.
Meanwhile, he stated that MIA had proposed to prepare an election manifesto on industries expectations from political parties contesting in the May 5 Karnataka State Assembly elections.
Even though industries play significant role in economic development and employment generation of the State, Jain lamented, no political party had discussed with industry representatives and organizations about their expectation in the election.
However, MIA had proposed to draft its manifesto so that its proposals are incorporated in the election manifestos by the political parties.
A meeting is convened at at MIA under chairmanship of President P Vishwanath, Jain said, requesting industrialists and economists to participate and give proposals on their expectations.
