The IPR 2007 had provision for VAT reimbursement but it was applicable only to new industrial units. Now, it would be extended to the existing units as well as decided by the state cabinet
"The VAT reimbursement would be applicable to the existing industrial units for modernisation, expansion and diversification work", chief secretary G C Pati after the cabinet meeting.
The implementation of the cabinet decision would come into force by way of notification with effect from the effective date of IPR, 2007.
The state government had earlier decided to widen and strengthen the existing carriageway to two-lane road from Jagatpur to Nischintakoili (25 km) for providing all-weather connectivity to Cuttack from Chandbali in Bhadrak district. Pursuant to that decision, the cabinet today approved the lowest tender of city-based Backbone-Utkal joint venture amounting to Rs 107.38 crore for execution of this work. The work is targeted for completion within a period of 18 months.
The cabinet also approved the award of Mega Lift Cluster VI work to Larsen & Toubro (L&T) which emerged as the L1 bidder, quoting an amount of Rs 382.95 crore. Apart from L&T, GVPR Engineers Ltd, HCC Ltd and Megha Engineering & Infrastructures Ltd participated in the bidding process. The instant tender was invited for execution of Cluster no VI having nine schemes covering a command area of 16750 hectares (ha) in Cuttack district.
Besides this, the state cabinet decided to transfer the subject 'posts, telegraph, telephone, wireless, broadcasting and other forms of communication to electronics and IT department from commerce and transport department.
