Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President Nitin Gadkari on Sunday called Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi as an inexperienced person and someone whose comments could not be taken seriously.

He also claimed that the government has miserably failed in keeping a check on the price rise issue despite a top economist like Manmohan Singh occupying the Prime Minister post.

Gadkari said the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government's "minority appeasement" policy is threatening the country's unity and Congress is working on vote bank politics.

He blamed the government for doing nothing to bring down the prices in the country.

Gadkari said, in 2014, when the BJP government comes to power, it will take care of the water and power problems. He said that first preferences will be given to interlinking of the rivers and provide Tamil Nadu as much as 4,000 tmc of water for the States agricultural needs.

When reporters brought his attention to Rahul Gandhi's statement that the interlinking of rivers was a waste of time and money and not a viable project, Gadkari said Rahul was not a expert in infrastructure, so his comments cannot be taken seriously.

Gadkari said he supported Union Home Minister Chidambaram on the issue of dealing with Naxals in the country.

Gadkari is in Chennai on a two-day visit to strengthen the BJP rank and file in Tamil Nadu.
