Uttarakhand Minister calls on Union Home Minister

The Minister of Prison & Urban Development of Uttarakhand, Shri Pritam Singh Panwar called on the Union Home Minister, Shri Rajnath Singh here today.

Shri Pritam Singh Panwar discussed the issues of Home Guards and Civil Defence Volunteers of Uttarakhand with the Home Minister and requested for extension of Civil Defence Organizations to all the districts from existing four districts in the State.

Shri Rajnath Singh informed Shri Panwar that the Central Government has increased the number of rural districts covered under the Plan Scheme of Mainstreaming Civil Defence in Disaster Risk Reduction from 100 to 240 during August, 2014. He also requested to increase the share of Home Guards in the Police from 5% at present to 10%. The Home Minister also assured to release the share of the Uttarakhand State Government for Civil Defence and Home Guards at the earliest.

Shri Panwar also discussed the Modernization of Police and Prisons in the State. He requested for Central assistance in the field of latest equipment such as CCTV cameras to be installed in the Prisons and other places. The Home Minister assured Shri Panwar to look into the request and provide necessary assistance in this regard.
