Greater Manchester Police force has confirmed that the explosion in the foyer of Manchester Arena on May 22 is being treated as a “terrorist incident”.
And while the force’s chief constable Ian Hopkins said the attack was carried out by a single individual; he added that the focus of the investigation was to establish whether the individual was acting alone or as part of a network. Hopkins said:
The attacker, I can confirm, died at The Arena. We believe the attacker was carrying an improvised explosive device which he detonated causing this atrocity.
A 23-year-old man has since been arrested
