Lead up more than 1% on strong spot demand

Prices rose on stron demand from battery-makers

Lead futures for May traded Rs 1.35, or 1.29% higher at Rs 106.15 per kg in 3,150 lots.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange (LME), the June contract rose by Rs 1.35, or 1.28%, to Rs 107 per kg in 126 lots.

Prices rose on rising spot demand.

Besides strong domestic demand from battery-makers, firm trend at the London Metal Exchange (LME) after the European Central Bank reduced interest rates to a record and US filings for unemployment benefit fell to a five-year low that boosted the outlook for demand, influenced lead prices at futures trade.

At LME, lead climbed as much as 1.9% to $1,977 per tonne.
