Tracking a weak trend in base metals at the London Metal Exchange amid sluggish demand, zinc prices fell by 1% to Rs 109.20 per kg in futures trade today.

Besides, profit-booking put pressure on the zinc futures.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, zinc for delivery in September declined by Rs 1.10, or 1%, to Rs 109.20 per kg, with a business turnover of 3,120 lots.

October zinc shed Rs 1.10, or 0.99%, to Rs 109.90 per kg in 164 lots.

Marketmen said profit-booking and a weak trend in the entire base metals pack at the London Metal Exchange (LME), led to a fall in zinc futures.

Meanwhile, zinc fell 1.64% to $1,982 per tonne at the LME.
