After excessive rains, BMC orders Mumbai schools to remain shut

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Friday ordered schools in Mumbai to remain shut after the city witnessed heavy rain and water logging.
The heavy overnight rain has disrupted local train service in Mumbai and the traffic in several parts of the city has been moving at a snail's pace due to excessive water-logging on the streets.
Meanwhile, a high tide in the Arabian Sea is expected around 2 pm today.
Seasonal rains in Mumbai began after the southwest monsoon hit the
western coast last week.
