Every parent aspires to give their child the best of education in a best possible school; however, how many could really afford to pay up a whopping 40 thousand dollars for what is touted to be a 'Taj Mahal for tots'.

Austin city officials have reportedly projected this eye popping cost to build a pre-kindergarten school.

According to the Washington Times, the construction costs of the pre-K school, the Anita Uphaus early education center, complete with a science lab, have reached a level that Texas Comptroller Susan Combs calls unacceptable.

The total cost for the school is 14.6 million dollars and with enrollment of slightly fewer than 300 students, the building fund at 40 thousand dollars per student is more than double the average nationwide per student cost.

Officials said that the school has been designed with many eco-friendly features that will save money and the structures are built to last.

The schools allows high school students help teach in the science lab and parents have a meeting space where they can get involved in their children's education, the report added.
