Former sarpanch Ramzan Sheikh shot dead by terrorists in Shopian

Three terrorists today shot dead former sarpanch (village head), Ramzan Sheikh of Imam Sahib village in Jammu and Kashmir's Shopian in a scuffle, the police said.

In the scuffle that followed, a terrorist, identified as Shaukat, was also killed and sarpanch, Sheikh got badly injured.

He was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead.

"Three terrorists fired and killed ex sarpanch Ramzan Sheikh in Shopian. In scuffle a terrorist Shaukat also killed," Jammu and Kashmir Director General of Police (DGP) S.P. Vaid tweeted.

Earlier this month, another former sarpanch, Ghulam Rasool Ganie was shot dead by terrorists in Mattan area of south Kashmir's Anantnag.

 

Ganie, a shopkeeper, was left with serious bullet injuries after terrorists fired at him.

He was shifted to Mattan hospital where doctors declared him brought dead.
