The Inspector General (Prisons), Bipin Kumar Singh on Saturday clarified that Indrani Mukerjea, the prime accused in the Sheena Bora murder case, did not attempt to commit suicide.

"She was taking multi-vitamins, but she had not taken overdose of any medicine. She took the medicine in front of the guard. She did not attempt to commit suicide. There is no evidence of any foul play, sabotage or conspiracy or attempt to commit suicide," Singh told the media here.

Mukerjea was admitted to J.J. hospital in Mumbai in unconscious condition after she complained of 'uneasiness due to chest pain' on October 2 at the Byculla prison. She was discharged four days later on October 6.

Mukherjea was arrested on August 24 for the murder of Sheena Bora, her daughter from an earlier relationship, in 2012.

She has been accused of killing her over a financial dispute, with the help of her ex-husband Sanjeev Khanna and her driver.
