Iraq's Ambassador to India Fakhri-H-Al-Issa said on Thursday that India can play a significant role in the reconstruction of Mosul, which has been liberated by Iraq's security forces from the terrorist organsiation Islamic State or Daesh.
The Iraqi envoy said the IS had damaged 60 to 70 percent of Mosul city and rest of Iraq, the state is expecting foreign nations like India to come in and participate in the rebuilding of the war-torn country.
"It is not going to be easy to rebuild Mosul as 60 to 70 percent of the city is destructed. The estimated figure for rebuilding the city may be about 100 billion USD and this is definitely beyond Iraq's ability and it is waiting for all other countries to come in and participate to build the city. India could play major role in it," Issa told ANI.
Issa further said that Iraqi Foreign Minister Ibrahim Al Jaafari's scheduled to visit India on July 24 would focus on India's role in offering humanitarian assistance to Mosul apart from signing a memorandum on Agriculture.
"First of all, the agreement on the agriculture will be signed and they will talk about cooperation between two countries on how India can participate in reconstruction of Iraq," he added.

Anadolu quoted Iraq's state television as saying that Abadi arrived in the city "to congratulate the heroic fighters and the Iraqi people for the great victory".
Later it was reported that the ISIS terror group admitted that their chief Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi was dead.
The Syrian Observatory for Human rights said it had "confirmed information" that Baghdadi has been killed.
