During the Tribeca Film Festival, the 51-year-old director said that there were things that did not meet his expectations of himself, adding that he was also very exhausted, but went on for promoting the film, reports News.com.au.

Whedon added that she was so beaten down by the process that he came off of it feeling like a miserable failure.

"I think that did a disservice to the movie, the studio and to myself. The things about it that are wrong frustrate me enormously," he said.

In 2015 when the movie was released, Whedon said in an interview that things got really unpleasant between him and Marvel behind the scenes. He fought with them over cutting various scenes he had hoped to keep.
